Put your favorite spice in the rice to turn plain bland white rice into something special. It doesn't have to be a lump of white goo.

I like this.. unusual combination of ingredients here.. different, cranberries and cheese. seems like quite a bit of liquid.. and maybe i would substitute chicken broth for the water. usually like to make that substitution.
usually don't like to add anything to a dish that doesn't add flavor. if you put it in you should be able to taste it, my belief.
this is an idea that i favor. i eat alone at least once a week and usually make some kind of rice meal. sometimes only as simple as steamed beets over rice. love that one.

Don't fret over the amount of liquid. It will all get adsorbed. I don't like soupy rice, that is unless I'm making rice soup. The chicken broth is ok to use, but there is so much flavor in this dish, there is no way you are going to taste the broth flavor. But if it blows your dress up, then be my guest.
