Ingredients

How to make it

  • Rinse rice well with water in strainer and set aside to dry. Chop the garlic, pepper, and onion.
  • Heat butter and oil over medium heat in sauce pan. Add the chopped garlic and lightly brown. Then add the chopped onion and pepper. Cook for 2-3 min. Add the tomato sauce, salt, and chili powder to pan. Then add the water and stir. Stir well then add the rice and parsley(Optional: add beans). Stir well. Bring to boil then turn burner to low and cover. Simmer for 30 min. Fluff with fork. Serve.
  • Optional: Add some beans with the rice for some added heartiness. I like to add kidney or black beans, About 1 (12 oz) can is sufficient. Rinse beans well and then add it in when you add the rice.

2 cups rice to 2 cups water will leave the rice crunchy and not fully cooked.
