How to make it

  • Saute onion, bell pepper, mushrooms and garlic in olive oil over medium heat until onion is tender, about 10 minutes. See Photo
  • In large soup pan, or 2-3 quart slow cooker, combine remaining ingredients then add the onion/garlic mixture. Simmer over medium/low heat, OR set slow cooker to high and cook 45 min-1 hour, stirring occassionally. See Photo
  • Serve over favorite cooked pasta.
  • **the sugar or baking soda can be used, if desired, to help balance the acidity of the sauce. I, personally, don't use sugar.

    wow! This sounds good to me. I've used raisins in my sauce, but never baking soda! Must try it, thanks.
