Easy Marinara A- Plenty

- 4T olive oil shopping list
- 1/2 medium onion, diced shopping list
- 1 bell pepper, diced shopping list
- 8oz fresh mushrooms, chopped shopping list
- 4 cloves garlic, minced shopping list
- 1 28oz can tomato puree(thicker than sauce) shopping list
- 1 28oz can crushed tomatoes shopping list
- total of about 1/4 cup chopped fresh Italian herbs OR can sub 2T dried shopping list
- kosher or sea salt and fresh ground black pepper shopping list
- 1t baking soda(optional) OR shopping list
- 1T sugar(optional) shopping list
- 5-6 links specialty, fully or partially cooked sausage, sliced(Italian, Sundried Tomato, Spinach/Asiago, etc)(Optional) shopping list
How to make it
- Saute onion, bell pepper, mushrooms and garlic in olive oil over medium heat until onion is tender, about 10 minutes. See Photo
- In large soup pan, or 2-3 quart slow cooker, combine remaining ingredients then add the onion/garlic mixture. Simmer over medium/low heat, OR set slow cooker to high and cook 45 min-1 hour, stirring occassionally. See Photo
- Serve over favorite cooked pasta.
- **the sugar or baking soda can be used, if desired, to help balance the acidity of the sauce. I, personally, don't use sugar.
