How to make it

  • Combine flour, salt and baking powder and set aside. (sift, if desired)
  • Cream butter, honey and sugar together in electric mixer until light and creamy.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, mixing after each addition.
  • Add vanilla and beat until well mixed.
  • Slowly add dry ingredients and buttermilk, alternately, beating well.
  • Beat about 2 minutes at medium speed.
  • Fold in shredded apples.
  • Divide between 2 8 or 9inch, prepared pans.
  • Bake in 350 oven for about 30 minutes, or until toothpick comes out ALMOST clean.
  • Cool on wire racks about 10 minutes, then turn out onto the racks and cool completely.
  • For Easy Creamy Caramel Frosting

  • Beat caramel topping, vanilla, salt and powdered sugar in electric mixer until well combined.
  • Add whipping cream 1T at a time, whipping well and adding more cream or powdered sugar, as needed, for spreadable consistency.
  • Frost cooled cake
