How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 400'
  • Butter two 9" round cake pans. Whisk together flour,baking powder and salt . In seperate bowl, combine 3/4 c sugar,milk,oil and egg. Fold into flour mixture
  • Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and smooth tops. Arrange plums,cut sides up,over batter.
  • Combine cinnamon and remaining sugar and sprinkle over plums Dot with butter. Bake till tops are golden brown,plums are soft and toothpick in center comes out clean,30-35 mins. Let cool (Cakes are best the day you make them:leftover cake is good for breakfast the next day)

    Just what my mother used to make with plums from our tree. She used to call it something that started with a "t' which I don't recall but DO recall how much I loved this with a bit of whipped cream. Thanks for the recipe and memories.
