How to make it

  • In a large bowl combine carrot, cabbage, onion and cilantro.
  • Combine remaining ingredients except sesame seeds until blended.
  • Toss with cabbage mixture then sprinkle with sesame seeds.

    This is on the try soon list. Sounds wonderful. I just got a head of Napa cabbage but I'm missing lots of the other ingredients.

    Thanks for that advice about the kosher salt and successfully draining the cabbage. I will try that next time.

    I tried this recipe today, serving it along with a grilled swordfish steak and some steamed broccoli. It was great. I do one thing, however, before I assemble the salad: After shredding the cabbage, I put it in a colander and toss it with kosher salt. Then I let it drain for about 40 minutes. The salt draws off about two cups of water. Then, I rinse the cabbage thoroughly and press it down in the colander with a towel. When I finally toss the salad, there is no excess moisture from the cabbage to get in the way of the dressing. Again, this is a great recipe, one that I will certainly be going back to.
