Pappardelle Bolognese

- 1/2 lb DeCecco Pappardelle shopping list
- Sauce: shopping list
- 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil shopping list
- 1/2 lb ground beef shopping list
- 1 onion, finely chopped shopping list
- 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped shopping list
- 1 tsp oregano shopping list
- 1 Tbsp basil shopping list
- cayenne pepper to taste shopping list
- 2 cups tomato sauce (puree) shopping list
- salt and pepper shopping list
- Parmegiano Reggiano shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. When hot add the ground beef. Cook until it is very brown, breaking into small pieces.
- Add the onions, garlic and herbs. Saute until tender. Add the salt, pepper and cayenne. Cook until it becomes fragrant.
- Add the tomato puree. Bring to boil. Then set the heat to medium and let the sauce simmer until it thickens. Stir every few minutes and, if necessary, lower the heat to keep it from burning.(I like mine quite thick, so it takes about 15-20 minutes.)
- Cook the pasta while the sauce simmers. DeCecco pappardelle take 7 minutes to cook.
- Add the drained cooked pasta to the sauce pan and mix thoroughly. Serve with the cheese.
