How to make it

  • Preheat oven 375 and place rack in middle of oven Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • In mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt
  • Cut butter into flour mixture with a pastry blender or a couple forks until
  • mixture looks like coarse crumbs
  • In another mixing bowl, whisk together egg, cream and vanilla
  • Add to flour mixture, mixing just until dough comes together
  • Do not over mix
  • Transfer to lightly floured surface and knead dough gently four or five times
  • Roll dough into 7 inch round
  • With 3 inch round cookie cutter, cut out rounds and place on parchment lined baking sheet
  • Brush tops with a little cream
  • Bake 15 - 20 minutes or until nicely browned
  • Cool on wire rack See Photo

    Very easy biscuit recipe that makes for a yummy strawberry shortcake. I think that my use REalof whole wheat flour had an effect on the final product – they were somewhat dense, but as far as I’m concerned absolutely perfect for soaking up strawberry juice! Great post – thanks, Wynne!
