Hot Sausage Calzones

- 1 lb pizza dough (we used terra cotta brand frozen dough) shopping list
- 2 cloves garlic shopping list
- 1 tbs extra virgin olive oil shopping list
- 2 hot Italian sausages shopping list
- 4 oz ricotta cheese (make sure its not too watery) shopping list
- 4 oz fresh mozzarella, grated or roughly chopped shopping list
- 1 tbs fresh basil, chopped shopping list
- 1 tbs fresh oregano, chopped shopping list
- 1 egg white shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to
- Heat olive oil over med heat in non stick pan
- Add garlic and cook until golden brown, constantly stirring
- Remove casing from sausages
- Add sausage to pan, break apart and cook until golden brown
- Remove from heat and add to medium sized bowl
- Allow sausage to slightly cool
- In the meantime, dust your countertop with flour and roll out pizza dough Cut into 6" circles with cookie cutter or rim of a glass
- Place dough cut-outs on a greased cookie sheet and set aside
- Add ricotta, mozzarella, basil, oregano, salt and pepper to sausage and mix to combine.
- Place a few spoonfuls of filling on each circle of dough, fold over and use a fork to seal edges
- Brush the tops of each calzone with egg white
- Bake at 400 F until golden brown (about 12 minutes)
- Serve with homemade marinara sauce
