How to make it

  • Beat softened butter with sugar until fluffy
  • Beat in eggs and vanilla
  • Sift flour, baking powder and salt
  • Add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream
  • Batter with be thick
  • Place 1/2 of batter in a greased and floured deep large 9 x13 or 10 x 14 pan
  • Combine filling ingredients and sprinkle evenly over batter
  • Place on remaining batter and spread evenly over filling with the back of a spoon
  • Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle evenly over batter
  • Place in center rack of preheated 325F oven
  • Cake will take about 1 1/2 plus or minus hours to test done and toothpick when inserted in center will come out clean
  • But all oven vary and baking times may alter
  • Cool in pan
  • May be frozen
