How to make it

  • Grease and flour ( I use bakers spray ) a square 10 inch pan or a 8 x 10 biscuit pan or 2, 8 or 9 inch round cake pans
  • Cream butter and sugar
  • Beat in the egg
  • Sift the dry ingredients
  • Add alternately with the milk to the creamed mixture
  • Stir in the molasses
  • Fold in the berries
  • Place mixture in pan or pans
  • Sprinkle with the granulated sugar
  • Bake in a preheated 350F oven until tested done in center
  • Cool and dust with more granulated sugar
  • Optional: top with whipped cream or ice cream
  • Note: I baked the recipe in a 10 inch pan 45-1 hour
  • Also the texture & flavor differs a bit if one chooses sour milk, buttermilk or even plain milk.
  • However all are delicious!
