This is a banana bread that I have made for years. Very good, very moist. The original recipe was given to me by a friend who's bread I really enjoyed, in that one the recipe called for 1/2 cup of milk that you put a teaspoon of lemon juice or vinegar in it to make it sour. Read more I guess we didn't want to have to buy a "special" ingredient ... but since I have buttermilk in the fridge most of the time, I just started using that instead with better results IMHO...do it either way ... Lindy, thank you sooooo much-- THIS IS IT! This is the recipe my Mom used to make; she called it "banana tea bread" and didn't put in the walnuts (I do). The original recipe also called for souring the milk with lemon juice, so it must be the same one -- it tastes right and has exactly the correct moisture without being soggy. Many thanks yet again!

Very similar to my recipe. My mama always said the riper the banana, the better the bread. She would use bananas that were really, really ripe. Thanks for sharing :-)
