How to make it

  • In mixing bowl cream butter and sugar then add eggs and beat on low speed for 2 minutes.
  • Gradually add molasses and hot water.
  • In another mixing bowl combine flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt then gradually add dry mixture to creamed mixture and beat on low for 1 minute.
  • Pour into greased rectangular baking pan and bake for 35 minutes.
  • Cool on wire rack.

    What temp do you bake it at? Just noticed there is no oven temp and I'm ready to make it now (and need to!)

    note 2 hours later: Just made it & baked @ 350. ended up baking about 41 minutes and the center looks slightly unset but not concerned. made a 2nd batch and ran out of molasses(!). used 3/4 c. dark brown sugar instead and upped the spices. still turned out, but lighter in color and not quite as flavorful. nice to find a recipe that i had everything on hand for! thanks! very tasty!
