Upsidedown Apples Recipe
I've never figured out the difference between a betty, a cobbler or a buckle. But I do know that we like this dish just as Nana called it. Upsidedown apples.

Ingredients
  • 5 small baking apples
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • batter:
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 2 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of sifted flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon of salt

Directions
  1. Peel and core apples; cut into eighths and roll in mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
  2. Place apples in 10 greased custard cups.
  3. Spread batter over appples; bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes.
  4. To make batter: Cream egg, butter and sugar, sift in flour and salt, combine lightly.

Oh yeah - wow, I can't WAIT for fall to arrive and the fresh crop of apples so I can make this!


Love the sound of this...I don't have individual custard cups, how do you think it would do in the same dish?
