Croissants And Sausage Breakfast Casserole
From krumkake 8 years agoIngredients
- 1 lb bacon or 1 lb ground pork sausage (l used breakfast sausage) shopping list
- 1 cup fresh Parmesan cheese, shredded shopping list
- 1 t salt and dash of pepper shopping list
- 6 green scallions, chopped shopping list
- 1 pkg. mini croissants (about 24), torn into bite size pieces, or 8 to 9 large croissants(I found 16 minis were plenty to fill the casserole dish!) shopping list
- 2 cups milk shopping list
- 1 cups half and half shopping list
- 6 large eggs, lightly beaten shopping list
- 2 cups shredded Gruyere or Swiss shopping list
- Additional 1 cup cheese of your choice, for topping shopping list
How to make it
- Cook bacon or sausage and crumble. Toss together meat, Parmesan cheese, and next 3 ingredients; arrange in a 13 x 9 inch baking dish, coated generously with butter.
- Whisk together milk and next 3 ingredients until fully mixed. Pour over meat /croissant mixture.
- Top with additional 1 cup grated cheese.
- Cover dish and refrigerate overnight - this can also be baked immediately, if you want
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Uncover and bake 45-50 minutes or until golden. Let stand 10 minutes. If top gets too brown while baking, lay a piece of foil loosely over the top of the casserole, and remove it the last 10 minutes to allow top to crisp nicely.
