Ingredients

1 cup packed light brown sugar

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened

2 eggs

2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped (optional)

Directions

Preheat oven to 325°.

Grease an 8x8x2-inch baking pan.

In a large bowl, beat sugar and butter until fluffy.

Beat in eggs, one at a time.

Beat in chocolate, then flour.

Stir in nuts, if using.

Pour into pan.

Bake 25 minutes.

Cool in pan and cut into bars.

Makes 2 dozen.

not an alteration per say...I didn't have 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted, so I mixed 2 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa with 1 Tbsp. veg oil and used that instead
