How to make it

  • Buter a 9"x9" pan. Heat sugar, butter, water and corn syrup to boiling in a heavy 2 quart pan over medium heat, stirring constantly to 290 degrees on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat, stir in almonds. Spread evenly in the 9"x9" pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips evenly over hot candy. Cover 1-2 minutes until chocolate is softened, then carefully spread over the candy. Sprinkle with additional almonds if desired. Let stand at room temperature until chocolate is firm (about 3 hours). Loosen from pan and break into pieces. Cover and refrigerate.

I love giving homemade candies and sweets at the holidays. I make a toffee in the microwave, but it's very "sensitive". I need to try your method and I think I'll have more consistent results!
