Miss Marys Apple Cake

This is a family favorite, a little different from other apple cakes that I have made. It is extremely moist!. You just can't get enough of it!!
Ingredients
- cake shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups Wesson Oil shopping list
- 2 cups sugar shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 teaspoon soda shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 2 winesap apples, peeled and chopped (have used other apples) shopping list
- 1 cup chopped nuts shopping list
- 3 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 2 teaspoons good quality vanilla shopping list
- icing shopping list
- 6 tablespoons softened butter shopping list
- 1 (1 pound) box powdered sugar shopping list
- juice and grated rind of 1/2 lemon shopping list
- Add more lemon juice if needed shopping list
How to make it
- CAKE
- Combine Wesson oil, sugar, salt, and soda
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating into mixture
- Add apples, nuts, and flour, mixing well
- Add vanilla and blend evenly
- Pour into greased and floured 9X13 pan (I use a 9X13 glass pan)
- Bake at 325 degrees for 10 min., THEN turn oven to 225 and bake for 1 hour
- ICING
- Combine ingredients for the icing
- Beat until smooth
- Spread on cooled cake
