Hi Tnacndn, and thanks for stopping by! A ramekin is an individual-sized, oven-proof, round dish that can withstand the heat when used in cooking -- often used for creme brulee and individual mousse moulds, and usually made with Pyrex glass or ceramic...(hope this helps!). You can use any small, shallow, heat-proof dish, just make sure that it can withstand the weight of the corn, and the intense heat that butter will give it, without breaking.
