Super Special Chocolate Icebox Pie

The long-anticipated homemade Chocolate Icebox Pie. I have the recipe for the pie crust too!! This is my favorite dessert! It was passed down to me and now I know how to make it!!
Ingredients
- 1C plus 3 Tbs sugar shopping list
- 3 Tbs cornstarch shopping list
- 1 heaping tablespoon cocao shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups milk shopping list
- 3 egg yolks shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 3 tbs butter shopping list
- 1 pint whipping cream shopping list
- 3 tbs sugar shopping list
- 1 unbaked pie crust ( I have recipe for homemade crust to go with this pie) shopping list
How to make it
- Cook the pie shell. Set aside and cool.
- Combine dry ingredients in a pot. Stir in milk and cook mixture over medium to high heat until mixture thickens.
- Put a little of the hot mixture in with the egg yolks and beat lightly.
- Add yolks to hot mixture in the pot. Do not let mixture boil. Stir constantly as mixture thickens.
- Remove from heat, add vanilla and butter. Stir until well mixed. Cool.
- Pour chocolate mixture into cooked pie shell and chill.
- Whip the whipping cream with 3 tbs of sugar and top the pie with it before serving. Makes one pie
