How to make it

  • Pound meat into 1/2" thinness and cut into bite-size pieces.
  • Quarter half of the onion, and chop the other half.
  • Add beef, onion and minced garlic to pan.
  • Cook until meat looks "almost" burnt, onions are translucent and liquid is gone.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce, 2 cups of water, soy sauce, Liquid Smoke, 2 tsp Garlic Powder, salt, pepper to skillet. (no need to drain the beef).
  • Bring to a boil over high heat.
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  • MEANWHILE : Combine gravy packet with 1 cup water. Mix thoroughly and stir into skillet when the hour of simmering is up.
  • Bring to a boil stirring frequently until thickened.
  • Serve over egg noodles (or rice).

Sounds like the real deal to me. This brings back memories of when my mother made something very similiar for us growing up as kids. Sounds yummy.
