How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Spray an 8 x 8 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, combine the water and farfel.
  • Add the sugar, apple, and cinnamon.
  • Fold in the egg whites.
  • Pour mixture into the prepared baking dish and dust the top with more cinnamon.
  • Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 45 minutes.

    Hi Sweets! This looks so good even if I've never had Kugel before or know what matzo farfel is. Can you tell us a bit about the recipe such as what is farfel and what defines a Kugel? I've heard the word Kugelhopf before,is this similar?

    I love your recipe, but I was wondering if I could use fine semolina or cous cous cos I doubt I'd be able to find matzo farfel over here. Not absolutely sure, but I'm guessing matzo farfel is some kind of grain meal? I'd really like to try this recipe, I'm mad for anything "apple cinnamon" If the suggestions I made are tantamount to culinary sacrilege *grin* then I'd appreciate your suggestions on suitable substitutes. Thanks :)
