This dessert was passed down to me from my great-aunt. It was made as an elegant dessert, circa 1920.

Ingredients
  • 1 -1/3 cup Pineapple Tidbits or 2/3 cup Crushed Pineapple, drained
  • 1 - 6oz. jar Maraschino Cherries, drained and chopped
  • (reserve 6-8 teaspoons of juice)
  • 1 cup Mini Marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup Pecans, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 cup Cool Whip
  • NOTE: My aunt used to used whipping cream, whipped, but it goes flatter and mooshier much, much faster, so I use Cool Whip.

Directions
  1. Combine pineapple, cherries, marshmallows, pecans and vanilla in bowl, stir well. Fold in Cool Whip.
  2. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour prior to serving. If using real whipped cream, chill for at least 4 hours.
  3. Spoon onto plates or into serving bowls, top with pecans and a teaspoon of reserved juice.

Sounds sooo good :)

I have been looking for this recipe for tens of years. My aunt also made it but she called it "Heavenly Hash". You have given me the original recipe and I can't wait to make it.
Thank you.
