Barbecue Beans

- Beans: shopping list
- 1 pack mixed beans - Use 1/2 pack. shopping list
- 1 cup navy beans shopping list
- 4 t Knorr chicken bullion or 2 cubes of Knorr bullion cubes shopping list
- 2 T liquid smoke shopping list
- 1 t. cumin shopping list
- 1/2 t. cayenne pepper shopping list
- 1/2 t. black pepper shopping list
- 1/2 t salt shopping list
- 1 T. sugar shopping list
- 1/2 T. chili powder shopping list
- 2 small cans tomato sauce shopping list
- 1/2 c lentils - don't soak. shopping list
- beef Mixture: shopping list
- 1 lb. ground beef - browned with the following: shopping list
- 1 onion - chopped small shopping list
- ½ bulb garlic - minced shopping list
- 1 bell pepper - chopped small shopping list
- 1 bunch scallion (green onion) shopping list
- 1 ½ stalk celery - chopped fine shopping list
- 1 fat waxed pepper - seeded and chopped fine shopping list
- 2 T. flour shopping list
How to make it
- Pick and wash the mixed beans and navy beans.
- Cover the beans generously with water (soak overnight in a large pot.).
- Rinse beans and cover with water again.
- Add bullion, liquid smoke, 1 t. cumin, 1/2 t. cayenne pepper, 1/2 t. black pepper, 1/2 t salt, 1 T. sugar, 1/2 T. chili powder, and 2 small cans tomato sauce to the pot.
- Bring to a boil. Turn heat to low ; simmer and cook two hours or until tender or use crockpot and follow crock pot time limit for beans.
- Pick, wash and drain lentils before use. Add to beans when they are almost done.
- Add water as needed.
- Ground Beef Mixture:
- Add all listed ingredients except the flour to the ground beef and brown.
- Mix and stir in the flour.
- When beans are almost done, add beef mixture, simmer 1 hour and serve.
- Adjust seasonings.
- Yield 8 - 10 servings.
