How to make it

  • Mix flour, sugar, shortening and salt together.
  • Reserve 1 cup for crumbles.
  • Mix molasses, boiling water and baking soda.
  • Combine with dry mixture.
  • Fill individual cups of paper-lined cup cake pan with mixture and top with crumbles.
  • Bake at 350° for 25 minutes.
  • Makes about 24 cupcakes.
