Ingredients
  • Round Steak cut very thin
  • Sliced bacon
  • Onion
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1/2 C. cracker crumbs
  • Mustard (without horseradish)
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 egg

Directions
  1. Have the round steak cut very , very thin, just thick enough to hold together. Cut into 6 pieces about 5-6" round or square. Salt and pepper the steak. Spread w/mustard. Lay on this 2 slices of bacon and 2 slices of onion.
  2. Make meatballs of the hamburger, cracker crumbs, egg, 1 t. salt, 1/4 t. pepper and enough milk to make right consistency.
  3. Make into 6 balls, put one in each prepared steak. Wrap steak around meatball and tie w/kitchen string.
  4. Brown in oil until brown, then add water and let simmer about 3 hours or until very tender.
  5. When done make brown gravey with liquid in pan.
  6. I serve w/mashed potatoes. Yum.

Yum, this sounds great. My MIL made her rouladen stuffed with sour pickles, not meatball mix. This would be so much better. I'll have to give it a try.


Yes, different from the rouladen I've had (with the pickles), but I like the sounds of yours much better!
