Ingredients

1/2-cup Crisco shortening

1/2-cup granulated sugar

1 egg

1 12/-cups all-purpose flour

1 ½-tspn baking powder

1/2-tspn salt

1/4-tspn nutmeg

1/2-cup milk

TOPPING

1/2-cup sugar

1 ½-tspn cinnamon

3-tbspn margarine or butter, melted

Directions

In a bowl, cram shortening and sugar.

Add egg; beat well.

Combine flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk and mix well.

Fill greased muffin cups half full.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes .

(Toothpick test them for doneness.)

In a shallow bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon,.

Dip muffin tops in butter, then in cinnamon-sugar.

Serve warm.

These are so good! I had some cloves so I added that and some cinnamon in the batter with the nutmeg and used all 3 in the topping. I made them for an after school snack and they were a hit. Plus the house smells incredible. I'll be making these again! Thanks.
