How to make it

  • Cut both sides of the steak into diamond pattern about 1/8-inch deep.
  • In a skillet, cook onions with butter, 1/4 teaspoon of salt and wine until they are tender.
  • Keep warm.
  • In a bowl, whisk together vegetable oil, lemon juice, garlic, salt and pepper.
  • Brush half the mixture onto the beef.
  • Set oven to broil.
  • Broil beef with the top about 2-3 inches frm the heat until brown.
  • Broil for 5 minutes.
  • Turn beef and brush with remaining 1/2 of mixture.
  • Broil 5 minutes more.
  • Cut beef across grain at a slanted angle into thin slices.
  • Top with cooked onion mixture and serve.
