How to make it

  • Fry the Onion in the Olive Oil. Add the White Wine and Garlic and season. Add skinned, quartered Tomatoes, along with the Mushrooms and cook for 15 minutes uncovered. Chill and sprinkle with Parsley before serving. Serves 6.

    A garnish tray just as you sat down? Without even having to order from the dinner menu?? Even if I could remember this, I've never been able to afford a restaurant that fancy. But thanks for the sweet mental image, and the recipe.

    You mean restaurants used to serve something more substantial than a breadbasket when you were seated??? Yep, I remember one "upscale" restaurant in the small town area I grew up in - relish tray to start, seafood augratin for app, crab louis for salad, a tasty entree, and polished off with a fancy stemmed glass filled with vanilla ice cream that had been mixed with a liqueur - MAN, those were the DAYS!! Thanks for the walk down memory lane...
