French Onion Salisbury Steak And Cheese Toast

- Salisbury Steak: shopping list
- 1-1/4 lb ground chuck shopping list
- 1/4 cup fresh minced parsley shopping list
- 2 tbsp minced scallions shopping list
- 1 tsp kosher salt shopping list
- 1/2 tsp black pepper shopping list
- 2 tbsp flour shopping list
- 1 tbsp olive oil shopping list
- 2 cups sliced onions (or more, if you like onions) shopping list
- 1 small package sliced fresh mushrooms shopping list
- 1 tsp sugar shopping list
- 1 tbsp minced garlic shopping list
- 1 tbsp tomato paste shopping list
- 2 cups beef broth shopping list
- 1/4 cup dry red or Burgundy wine shopping list
- 3/4 tsp kosher salt shopping list
- 1/2 tsp thyme shopping list
- Garnish with: shopping list
- 4 tsp minced fresh parsley shopping list
- 4 tsp shredded parmesan cheese shopping list

- 4 slices of French or bagette bread cut into 1/2" thick slices shopping list
- 2 tbsp soft butter shopping list
- 1/2 tsp minced garlic shopping list
- 1/4 cup grated swiss cheese shopping list
- 1-2 tbsp parmesan cheese shopping list
How to make it
- To make steak:
- Combine chuck, parsley, scallion, salt & pepper.
- Divide evenly into 4 portions and shape into 3/4-1" thick oval patteis
- Place 2 tbsp flour in shallow bowl
- Dredge each patty in flour
- Reserve 1 tbsp flour
- Heat olive oil in saute pan over medium high heat
- Add patties and saute 3 minutes on each side or until browned
- Remove from pan
- Add onions & mushrooms with sugar in pan; saute 5 minutes
- Stir in garlic & tomato paste and saute 1 minute or until paste begins to brown
- Sprinkle onion mixture with reserved flour; cook 1 minutu
- Stir in broth and wine
- Add salt and thyme
- Return meat to pan and bring to boil
- Reduce heat to low and cover
- Simmer 10-15 minutes
- Cheese Toasts:
- Combine butter & garlic with paprika on one side of each piece of bread
- Combine the cheeses and sprinkle over bread
- Bake at 400 till crispy and cheese is bubbly (10-15 minutes)
- On plate
- Place a slice of bread, top with meat, onion mixture.
- Ladle soup mixture over meat
- Garnish with parsley & Parmesan Cheese

This is without a doubt delicious!!! However, it’s NOT easy or fast and is very labor intensive!! There are lots of steps to follow, lots of chopping and a ton of ingredients. The labor is worth it….but only on a weekend!! I got this recipe fro...more
