How to make it

  • Mix together the first six ingredients until crumbly. Press firmly into a 8-inch square pan.
  • Bake at 350F for 10 minutes, then set aside to cool.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine condensed milk, margerine and remaining brown sugar. Bring to a gentle boil, and stir continuous for five minutes.
  • Pour the toffee mixture over the baked crust and leave it to set.
  • In a second saucepan (or microwaveable bowl) melt the chocolate chips. Stir in the rice cereal, folding until completely coated with chocolate.
  • Spread the chocolate-covered cereal over the toffee layer, and put the whole thing in the fridge to chill for a few hours.
  • Cut into 2-inch squares and serve.
