My family loves this for a snack with coffee. You dip this in your coffee.

The ingredients


Mix wet and dry mixt


Have a dough tester


Roll dough into ball


Put tightly in a gre


Or just press dough


Break alongside ball


Or cut into pieces


Dry out in oven

Ingredients
  • 1,5 kg self raising flour
  • 15 ml baking powder (1 tablespoon heaped)
  • 500 ml sugar (2 cups)
  • 3 eggs
  • 500 g butter or margarine (2 cups)
  • 500 ml buttermilk (2 cups)
  • 45 ml lemon juice (3 tablespoons)

Directions
  1. Cream eggs and sugar well together
  2. Mix the buttermilk and juice in.
  3. Melt the butter and mix in with the others.
  4. Sift the dry ingredients.
  5. Mix the dry ingredients with your hands in till a stiff dough.
  6. Grease any baking dish.
  7. Make medium size balls with the dough. (150 - 180).
  8. Arrange them very close into the baking dish(es).
  9. Bake at 180 degrees C (360 degrees F) for 60 minutes.
  10. Cut or break the balls into dip size pieces.
  11. Arrange them loosely on a baking tray.
  12. Let them dry out in a oven of 70 degrees C(160 degrees F). overnight.
  13. Turn them arounnd after few hours.
  14. Very tasty. Can be put in an airtight holder for quite some time.

That is way cool! Sort of a cross between a hot bun and biscotti. This is on the to do list for sure. Looks like the taste tester is satisfied. She is adorable! They grow up too fast don't they.

These sound very good. Have eaten Holland Rusks and I like them. I am wondering if these are similar. Know they are good with a cuppa coffee! :) Thanks for sharing.
