How to make it

  • soak beans 2 to 3 hours
  • Drain
  • I boil my hocks til they made a good broth,about 2 cups
  • add beans to broth with garlic, onion and pepper pod.If the beans are'nt covered with liquid add enough water to cover beans.
  • Bring to a boil
  • lower heat
  • cover and simmer...be sure and watch and stir occasionally

    YUM !!!! I miss La so bad....one of the first things I ask for when I go home is this or Turnip greens and cornbread !
