I'm not all that impressed with store bought eggnog so I make my own. I have several recipes and this is one of many.

Ingredients
  • 6-8 eggs (depends on size)
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup rum
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/2 cup whiskey
  • 1 tablespoon nutmeg, freshly grated
  • Note: I often double this recipe.

Directions
  1. Separate the eggs and set the whites aside.
  2. Mix the yolks well, gradually adding the cream, milk, and sugar. Whip the egg whites until "soft peaks" form.
  3. Fold the whites into the yolk mixture.
  4. Gradually add the Rum, Brandy and Whiskey.
  5. Let the egg nog stand, uncovered, in the refrigerator for 2 hours. Grate Nutmeg over the top right before serving.

Oh yum - now I'm craving eggnog! This sounds excellent (and enough alcohol to send me under the table...).


Hahahaha... see that little elf in the pic and see how his little toes are curled up, well... that's how you feel after one cup ;-)


We aren't big alcohol drinkers as my hubby is allergic to it, he is however a fanatic about egg nog. I bet he would drink a gallon a day if I let him. I am supposed to buy him a quart EVERY time I am at a store that sells it during the holidays.Would this recipe be good without the alcohol? :o)
