Beef And Cabbage Stew

- 2 lbs. beef cut in approximately 1-1/2 to 2 inch cubes shopping list
- flour shopping list
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil shopping list
- 5 cups boiling water or half stock and half water shopping list
- 1 tsp. lemon juice shopping list
- 2 tsp. worcestershire sauce shopping list
- a dash or 2 of Tobasco sauce shopping list
- 2-3 garlic cloves, chopped or minced shopping list
- 1 bay leaf (optional) shopping list
- 1 Tbsp. salt shopping list
- 1-1/2 tsp. pepper shopping list
- 1 tsp. paprika shopping list
- 1 tsp. sugar shopping list
- 2 medium onions, chopped shopping list
- 1 can stewed tomatoes (16oz.) shopping list
- 2 cups shredded cabbage shopping list
- 5 carrots, sliced in coins shopping list
- 6 potatoes, cubed or quartered shopping list
- Note: For those who like Guinness, a can of Guinness adds a beautiful rich taste to this stew. Either inside the stew or a nice cold one with the stew. Cheers!!! shopping list
How to make it
- Brown floured meat in oil.
- Do not crowd the meat in the saucepan when browning.
- Add boiling water or mixture of boiling water and stock, spices and onions and simmer until tender.
- Add carrots and potatoes and cook until vegetables are tender.
- I like to sprinkle fresh parsley over top when serving.
