I got this recipe from a friend of mine. I have been making it for about 12 years for my family. This pie won grand Champion in the Apple pie category at the 1992 Okanogan county fair. The taste is wonderful

I've been making my Apple pies like this for 40 yrs, not knowing someone else made it like this also! I know it is the best, in fact just finished it last nite... lol
Thank you for posting it so everyone can try it!

I sometimes through in with the apples some (1/2 cup) of little Red Hots (cinnamon candies)

Yum! Love apple pie.

Wow..in all my years of baking, I've not made many apple pies. However, my NJ family absolutely loves it, and I have one on the menu for Thanksgiving...I do believe this will be it! Love the idea of pre-cooking the apples, as everyone loves them soft. GREAT post, thank you, Michelle!

Sound good but different from the way I make my apple pies, will give this a try, think my friend from New Zealand also makes her's this way. Great post thanks for sharing.
