How to make it

  • Heat over to 350 degrees, grease and flour pans
  • combine dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  • add eggs milk, oil, and vanilla; beat on medium speed for 2 minutes
  • stir in boiling water (batter will be very thin!).
  • pour into prepared cake pan.
  • bake 35-40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
  • cool 10 minutes; remove from pan to wire rack. cool completely
  • .
  • frost with perfect chocolate frosting (I have it listed)

    So glad you posted! This is one of the first cakes I ever made, from a cookbook my Mom had of a local cooking celebrity in the early 70's (telling my age!). It was called chocolate wet cake...and it's sooo good. THANKS for posting, I had forgotten about it!!! : )
