How to make it

  • Mix 1st 3 ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Add water and egg and mix until smooth.
  • Cut veggies into 1/4 inch pieces.
  • Pour oil into heavy pan and heat to 375 or put the end of a wooden spoon in the oil and if the oil bubbles up around it, the oil is ready.
  • Dip veggies into batter.
  • Fry in batches about 4 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Sprinkle with salt.

    Love tempura, and especially when the vegetable is a sweet potato...have you tried that?

    I personally LOVE just about anything in a tempura batter and deep fried. This is the way I prepare my tempura batter and sometimes I even add a splash of beer ;-) In the batter that is lol

    I think if you put batter on anything and fried it you could get my kids to eat it. Sounds wonderful!
