Pear Cake With Sour Cream Topping Recipe
This cake is is very tasty and a great cake for breakfast or brunch. Serve warm with hot coffee or tea!

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp grated lemon peel
  • 1-3/4 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 can (29 ounces) pears, drained
  • Topping:
  • 1 cup (8ounces) sour cream
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp grated lemon peel

Directions
  1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.
  2. Add eggs and lemon peel; mix well.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternatley with milk.
  4. Beat well.
  5. Spread batter into a greased 13 in. x 9 in. x 2 in. baking pan.
  6. Slice pear halves and arrange in rows on top of batter.
  7. Mix topping ingredients until smooth; spread over pears.
  8. Bake at 350* for 30-35 minutes or until cake tests donw.

This is innovative Michel.The batter is close to the pineapple upside down cake,which I like most.Thanks for sharing.


I've never tried pears on my cakes/coffeecakes - this sounds so refreshing and different...another one I have to try soon!
