I made these last night-it was all I could do, not to eat the whole pan by myself! My Mom used a boxed mix when I was a kid to make date bars. They discontinued it years ago. I've been looking for and trying different recipes for sometime now. This one wins! My holidays will taste complete again now that I have date bars for the cookie platters! Thanks!

I too had this alot when I was a kid, but it came from a box, they don't make it anymore.
The nuts were the only addition from the one I recall.
I did need to make about 1/2 the oat mixture more, to give enough for the top.
