Bourbon Bbq Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • olive oil
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 "shot" Jack Daniels or your favorite bourbon/whiskey
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp fresh ground black pepper (or more)
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (or more)

Directions
  1. Sautee garlic in a little oil in a small saucepan until fragrant and softened, about 5 minutes
  2. Add other ingredients to pan
  3. Simmer on low heat, stirring often, until sauce is thick and less vinegary
  4. Toss with pulled pork until coated- be careful- a little goes a long way!

Every time we make a pork loin, we have about four thick slices left that I pull apart for sammies.

Alterations


I make a similar BBQ sauce. I use molasses instead of brown sugar. I am going to have to try it your way. I have always used molasses, it never occured to me to use brown sugar.
