A savory chicken and mushroom casserole type entree. If you use the type of dried beef that comes in a jar, soak it in water for 15 minutes and then drain.

I have to do this one. My husband loves it when I cook with the dried beef. This is unique Dugger.

Hey Dugger :>)
This was very much enjoyed. The chicken is so moist this way. I loved the combination of creamy and the slight saltiness from the beef once soaked and rinsed. I will make this again.... I used a lower sodium bacon.

What is the dried beef?

Kathleen,
Dried Beef is salted thinly sliced beef that can be purchased at the supermarket. If you know anyone who has been in the military ask them about Chit on a Chingle. Dried beef is the basic ingredient for that.

I remember this dish. Mom used to make it all the time for company. It is a great combination of flavors. There is something to be said about elevating dried beef to company level food. Great post. I wish I could find her recipe because I seem to remember a bit of sherry in it. Or perhaps I remember the cook with a bit of sherry in her. :D
