Ingredients

How to make it

  • *Soak apricots in hot water to cover for 30 minutes
  • After soaking, chop the apricots
  • *I have made this bread without doing the above, just snipping the apricots with kitchen scissors
  • In large bowl, whisk sugar and egg together
  • Add melted butter
  • Add orange juice
  • In another bowl, whisk dry ingredients together
  • Mix wet ingredients and dry ingredients together
  • Add apricots and nuts to batter
  • Pour into a greased loaf pan and cook at 350 degrees for about an hour.....check with toothpick in center, and when it comes out clean, it is done

This has been one of my favorites for years. I found the recipe in my Better Crocker cookbook, the first one I ever owned! I made it today, after seeing it on the site and being reminded of it. I add the zest of one orange and I also make it in mini-loaves. They are so nice to keep wrapped in foil for gifts or frozen for unexpected guests.
