Ingredients

How to make it

  • Grab a stock pot, I think mines about 8L capacity, and put in your chicken broth and meat.
  • Add onion, celery.garlic, bay leaf, peppercorns, savoury, red pepper flakes, and salt.
  • Bring to a boil over med-high heat
  • Add potatoes and bean/carrot mix
  • Return to boil, then turn down to simmer.
  • Simmer about 30 min til potatoes are done, or longer if you enjoy a long slow simmered soup.
  • Add water if soup is getting too thick.
  • My mom would always boil, then lightly saute some homemade noodles (kielke) and put them in the soup bowl before adding the soup. Finish off with a splash of half and half if desired. Serve with some nice crusty bread and butter. True comfort food!

Mennonites unite! I'm living in Belgium, but am a Canadian Mennonite. I remember my Grandma making this soup. Looking forward to trying this.
