How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Grease 2 quart caserole dish.
  • Place the breadcrumbs into a bowl and mix well with the melted butter; set aside.
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil.
  • Add macaroni to boiling water and cook for 8-10 minutes until al-dente.
  • Drain, the place into prepared caserole dish.
  • While the pasta is cooking, melt remaining 2 tblspns butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Stir in the minced onion and cook until translucent (about 4-5 minutes)
  • Stir in the flour, salt, pepper, and dry mustard until incorporated, then pour in the milk and bring to a simmer.
  • Simmer, stirring constantly until the milk has thickened, about 10 minutes.
  • Take the milk off the heat and stir in the cheddar cheese until melted.
  • Pour cheese sauce over the macaroni, then sprinkle evenly with the bread crumbs.
  • Bake until golden and bubbly, about 20 minutes.

    A perfect meal on a cold winter evening.
    Except for the bread crumbs this is the way I make Macaroni And Cheese all the time. I like the bread crumb idea and will try this out the next time.
