How to make it

  • In large mixer bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder,salt.
  • Add eggs, milk, oil, vanilla, beat 3 minutes with mixer
  • By hand stir hot coffee into mixture
  • Pour evenly into two 9 inch greased and floured pans
  • Bake 30 - 35 minutes at 350 degrees or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
  • Cool 10 minutes before removing from pans
  • CHOCOLATE ICING
  • In medium bowl, with mixer, cream butter until light and fluffy
  • Add, by mixing on low, cocoa, and powdered sugar alternately with milk and vanilla
  • Beat until creamy and spreadable
  • Split cooled layers of cake horizontally (I use long bread knife)
  • Cover top of each layer with frosting
  • Stack them on cake dish or serving plate
  • Frost entire outside of cake
  • This makes a beautiful chocolate cake, and it truly is delicious
