Ingredients

How to make it

  • Cut the raisins and slice the lemons thinly, and put them in a large bowl or jug. Add sugar, pour on cold tea. Stir till the sugar has dissolved, cover the bowl or jug and leave it for a month.
  • You will find a scum on top; remove this carefully, strain off the liquid and bottle.
  • Is best when kept a few months to age. Keep it in a cool dark place.

new to this and going to try it today, just wondering if anyone recommends a certain blend...
also does it matter on how long the brew stands...is a weak brew better than a strong one or vice versa..appreciate any advice

Tried this, and it did taste fantastic. It was actually quite sweet. The scum did make it into my batch, but only slightly. Be very careful when you break the surface pressure between the scum and the "tea". Excellent addition and the easiest wine to make. I would recommend this as a beginners introduction to homemade spirits. Thanks for the post! Oh, I'm going to try some oranges in my next batch... will let you know.

I am definately going to bite! You say simply to use cold tea - Would using flavoured herbal teas also work?

I'm going to try this. I make my own wine...from a kit, but still alot of fun. It bubbles and smells up the entire house. Awesome! Thanks again for another great recipe. Renee
