Ingredients

How to make it

  • On a paper plate layered with paper towels, lay out 6 slices of bacon, cover with another paper towel and microwave about 4-5 minutes, until crisp, set aside.
  • Boil water for paste
  • While water is boiling, soften cream cheese in microwave for about 20 seconds, this helps to incorporate it better in the sauce.
  • In a large sauce pan, add the milk and half and half, slowly heat to simmer, add the sour cream and cream cheese, stirring with a whisk until all are incorporated
  • Stir in the Romano
  • Cook the paste until al dente, Drain and add to the alfredo mixture
  • Add salt and pepper to taste
  • Turn onto large serving dish, crumble the bacon over the top and serve.
  • Light varieties of the cheeses work well
  • More and/or different cheeses can also be added to vary the taste, this is a real food-proof recipe.

Thanks for the comments. Broccoli would be great, as would chicken, depends on who is eating---have a son who doesn't eat anything green! This is the kind of dish you can add any type of cheese, or decrease the calorie content, but is sure is quick and hearty.
