Almond Encrusted Pound Cake

- Thinly sliced almonds shopping list
- 1 stick unsalted butter shopping list
- 1/2 cup Crisco shopping list
- 2 cups sugar shopping list
- 6 eggs shopping list
- 2 cups flour, sifted shopping list
- 2 teaspoons almond extract shopping list
- glaze shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/4 cup warm water shopping list
- 2 *tablespoons* almond extract shopping list
How to make it
- Generously grease large tube pan
- PRESS almonds onto sides and bottom, set aside
- In large bowl, using mixer, cream together butter, Crisco, and sugar
- Add eggs, one at a time, continuing to beat
- Gradually add flour and almond extract
- Beat at high speed until batter is fluffy
- Pour into prepared pan
- Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour
- GLAZE
- Boil sugar and water for 1 minute
- Remove from heat
- Add almond extract
- Pour over *lukewarm* cake
- Leave cake in pan unti it has cooled COMPLETELY
- This is a wonderful cake!
