Ingredients
  • MY RECIPE:
  • ANYTHING YOU HAVE THAT A SQUIRREL WOULD EAT.
  • -Granola, Cereal, Chips, Pretzels, mixes, dry dog or cat food.
  • Anything you have in the house will work. Or get a little from
  • the bulk section in your store.
  • The object is that the food be gone in the morning. If you're not
  • sure that the wild life might eat it, put it on an area, such as
  • a sidewalk that you can sweep away or up, so it is gone.
  • -Sugar sprinkles, or confectioners sugar, are a cute touch
  • and go with the poem, but I don't know if they work. Don't use
  • glitter, bad for animals.

Directions
  1. -USE WHATEVER YOU HAVE ON HAND
  2. -DON'T BUY THOSE PRE-PACKAGED REINDEER MIXES. THEY
  3. ARE PRICEY. YOU WERE PROBABLY GOING TO THROW OUT
  4. THE SAME INGREDIENTS ANYWAY
  5. - MIX AND RECITE THE POEM TOGETHER WHILE YOU PUT
  6. IT OUT FOR THE REINDEER.
  7. ***SPRINKLE ON THE LAWN AT NIGHT
  8. ***THE MOON WILL MAKE IT SPARKLE BRIGHT
  9. ***AS SANTAS REINDEER FLY AND ROAM
  10. ***THIS WILL GUIDE THEM TO OUR HOME.
  11. FYI: THE REINDEER'S NAME IN CASE YOU GET ASKED:
  12. DASHER, DANCER, PRANCER, VIXEN, COMET, CUPID, DONNER, BLITZEN.....AND OF COURSE RUDOLPH.

That is sooooooo cute... Have a 5 year old Granddaughter who will want to do this tomorrow..thank you! This will help build memories!

I love stuff like this!*wink*

I am going to do this one---my daughter is going to be thrilled!!! I'm not being ugly or anything here, but the reindeer is actually named Donder, not Donner--I was corrected about this a few years ago so I researched it and its true from the old old stories.
Thanks again for this awesome idea - I know I will be seeing some sparkles in my daughters eyes as we do this one together!!! Always, Tami

The common names given for Santa's reindeer in modern culture are Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner/Donder, Blitzen, and Rudolph.

Both of you are correct!

Have a great Christmas x

Careful Tami, I tried to tell somebody something about a week ago and got a hate e-mail. Can't win um all I guess. Great idea-love the reindeer food.

No feelings here. In fact, I too read that there are two accepted names for that reindeer, both Donner, and Donder. I also read that they both translate to the word Thunder. (German, Donner...Dutch, Donder). Blitz translates to Lightning, Blitzen is the verb form. (German)
NOW GO FEED THE REINDEER, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!

I'd throw in some chocolate chips ;)

Be careful if you do add chocolate chips that any dogs or cats don't get to it. Chocolate can kill both :(.
I'd eat the chips and toss the rest to the "critters" ;).

This is so cute!! Maybe this will help in convincing my daughter to hurry up and give me grandbabies so I can share it with them!!

This is such a great idea! A friend of mine does it and her kids have a ball! Our 2 year old is now old enough for us to start, too! Thx!
